Nature Inspirations

While I have always enjoyed drawing and painting, I received a Bachelor’s degree in Biology and later a Master’s degree in Geoscience. Nature has always been my inspiration. I started taking oil painting classes in 1979 and joined the Artists Undertaking Gallery in Occoquan, Va, then joined Gallery West in Alexandria, VA where I was active for 25 years while teaching Biology, Geosystems, AP Environmental Science for Fairfax County Public Schools and Meteorology for Averett University. I won many awards at local shows and participated in art festivals throughout Virginia such as the Neptune Show in Virginia Beach, Fall festivals in Clifton, Fairfax, Winchester, Fredericksburg, Leesburg,, Middleburg and Roanoke. After moving to San Diego, CA in 2014, I joined the Off Track Gallery in Encinitas, CA and have participated in Holiday Bazaars and Mother’s Day Art and Gardens shows. I have recently begun plein air painting with friends at local beautiful scenic areas around San Diego using pastels. In addition to oil and acrylic painting, I started taking Vitreous enamel fired onto. Metal classes in 1993. Since then I make copper bowls and jewelry.
